T'was The Night Before Christmas

T'was the night before christmas,
The little dog sat,
Looking at the christmas tree,
On a soft mat.

With lots of excitement,
The day had been busy.
The stockings were hung
For Daniel & Lizzy.

Mum came over to where the dog sat,
Stroking him gently she said,
"It's christmas eve, boy, would you like
To wear a silly christmas hat?"

"We'll hang your stocking, and maybe you'll get
A present or two in the morning.
Some treats, a toy, who knows what there'll be?"
And then mum started yawning.

How different my life is now in my special home,
Last christmas was real bad.
Alone, cold and hungry, my body was hurt,
I felt so very sad.

There was no presents, dinner or treats,
Just a man who thought it fun to beat me.
Then some people came and took me away,
They told me "you'll be okay now, you'll see."

My new family came, and they chose me
From all the dogs in the place.
At first I was scared, but they showed me love,
And goodness me, so much space.

I will enjoy this christmas, and to my family I'll give,
All the love that I can, for as long as I live.
To the people who rescued me, I'd like to say,
God bless you, and have a great christmas day.

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house
Something was snoring, and it was not a mouse
I leapt from my bed and pulled on my gown
Grumbling away as I took the stairs down

Tiptoeing gently, I soon reach the hall
Only to trip on her tennis ball!
I creak open the door and pad slowly in
And there she is, still making a din

The lights are sparkling away in the gloom
The magic of Christmas all around the room
Spiced apple candles fill the air with their scent
But still she snores on, all snuggled and spent

I move slowly closer and inwardly sigh
And notice the chocolates still safely up high
The lights on her fur form a flickering glow
Just like the moonlight falls on fresh snow

She suddenly realises I am by her side
Her big brown eyes open up so wide
Her tail wags madly and her ears spring up
I have finally managed to wake this pup

I take the seat next to my bundle of joy
Almost breaking my neck on yet another toy
In an instant she’s on my lap, making a fuss
You see she’s for life, not just for Christmas!

T'was the night before Christmas
And all were asleep
Not a sound could be heard
Not even a peep

But Rosie lay listening
Her eyes open wide
She was hoping that Santa
Would soon step inside

She’d been told when a pup
By her dear old Mum
Of the special night
When Santa would come

In the still of the night
There came a soft sound
Someone was walking
Through the snowy ground

A figure entered all furry white
And tiptoed on his paws
Red hat and shiny nose
It was Santa claws

He put a present near the tree
Placing it with care
Rosie’s little tail wagged
To see it sitting there

Then in the blink of a doggies eye
He vanished from all sight
T'was the night before Christmas
A very magical night

T'was the night before Christmas,
Mum was in a funny mood.
You won't believe what she did to me,
And she thought I looked good.

You're santa's little helper, she said with a smile,
If I could, I'd have run a mile.
Tess & Ty were laughing at me,
She couldn't find one to fit them, you see.

Oh, how embarrassed was I that night,
I looked so silly, a terrible fright.
Then mum got the camera, Oh no, I thought,
In this silly outfit, she wanted me caught.

Tammy, she said, look at me,
No way, I thought, I don't want to be
A laughing stock on D for Dog,
My brain was whirling like a cog.

Right, I thought, I'll look at her now,
But she'll know, I'll let her see how
I'm not at all happy at wearing this,
So just let her ask me for a kiss.

I turned around with a look of disgust,
That she'd made me wear it, so unjust.
The picture was taken, oh the shame,
I just hope she doesn't put my name.

I forgave my mum later that night,
For making me look a sorry sight,
I love her so much, how could I stay mad,
So a nice Christmas eve, we all had.

Our stockings were hung, ready for santa to come,
To my, Tess & Tyson's special home.
How lucky we feel that we are here
With our mum and dad, who we love so dear.

Merry Christmas everyone

Twas the Night Before Christmas featuring the Late Great Bud and his Lamented Sister Lucy

Twas the night before Christmas
And all through the house
Nothing was stirring
Not even a mouse
“hang on” said Santa Posted Image
Not believing his eyes
“where is my drink and
The plate with mince pies?”
“Don’t know” said the fairy Posted Image
“they put me up on the tree
And the spindly twig
collapsed under me”

T'was the night before Christmas
But Oh my Oh my!
The reindeer had swine ‘flu
They were too ill to fly

Poor Santa lamented,
‘Just look at these toys,
How will I get them
To the good girls and boys?’

But he needn’t have worried,
Help was at hand
The gifts were delivered
All over the land

If you’d been observant
That cold Christmas Day
You might just have spotted
Those pulling the sleigh………………

Twas the night before Christmas
and Lucy got dressed
to welcome the man that all like best
He brings lots of gifts for those that are good
and eats those mince pies
from behind his hood

What did he leave Lucy
she is eager to know
A new santa outfit?
I DON'T THINK SO!
